Heavy Red Primer Steel Pipe EN 10255

Heavy-walled or heavy grade red-oxide primer painted steel pipe and tube to BS EN 10255:2004, previously known as BS 1387 tube is available to order here on our website, this material is dual certified to BS EN 10217-1:2002 and is available from stock in 6.5m full and 3.25m half random lengths. All of our red heavy mild steel tube is manufactured in Europe by Borusan Mannesmann or Yucel Boru and can be supplied with full 3.1 mill test certification.

Our heavy walled range includes female BSPT taper screwed and socketed tube as well as a range of plain ended tube in sizes between 1/2” and 6” nominal bore. The thicker wall found on this range of heavy tube means that it can be used at higher pressure compared with medium wall tube, for this reason, you’ll often find it used in low-pressure process steam systems in conjunction with wrought iron fittings to BS EN 10241. Other common uses of red-painted tube are fire sprinkler installations as well as on diesel and oil lines to name just a few.
